Quick, Easy & Delicious Marinara Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 28 oz can San Marzano peeled tomatoes with basil (I separate the juice from the tomatoes in separate bowls. I then take out the core of the tomato and discard and incorporate the cored tomatoes with the juice.)
- 1 onion rough chop
- 2 garlic cloves chop
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- S&P to taste
- 1/4 tsp of dried oregano
- Handful of basil leaves
Directions:
Add butter and oil to a sauce pan over medium high heat. Saute the onions until translucent, then add the garlic, oregano and pepper flakes and continue to sauté for another minute. You do not want to burn the garlic or it will become bitter.
Transfer the sautéd onion mixture to your blender, add the cored tomatoes, its juice and basil leaves. Turn the blender on to puree the tomatoes or to the consistency you like. Then transfer it to a sauce pan and cook for about 30 minutes or to the thickness you prefer.
