Balance flavors with acid
Most recipes suggest to balance flavors in your dish you should season with salt and pepper. However, some suggest lemon juice or another acid like vinegar. Acid plays an important role in brightening flavors if your dish is flat or bland, the sweetness needs cutting down, or toning down richness, just like acid does in a vinaigrette. So the next time a dish is too sweet, flat or rich try adding a touch of acid before you go for the salt.
